Welcome to DesignSQL. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website (designsql.cloud) and use our database diagram tool and services.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us when you use our services:

  • Account Information: When you register for an account (FREE, PRO, or TEAM), we collect your name, email address, and profile picture. This authentication is securely handled via Google OAuth. We do not create or store any separate passwords for your account.
  • Payment Information: For paid subscriptions (PRO or TEAM), your payment data is processed securely by our third-party payment processor (Lemon Squeezy). We do not store your full financial information on our servers.
  • Usage Data: Automatically collected data such as your IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and timestamps to help us improve user experience and troubleshoot issues.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes, including:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our diagramming tool and cloud synchronization features.
  • To process your transactions and manage your paid subscriptions.
  • To authenticate you and secure your cloud-saved schemas.
  • To send you important administrative updates, billing and subscription-related notifications, and team collaboration invitations via email.
  • To analyze platform usage trends and develop new features to enhance your experience.

3. How We Protect Your Information

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information and database schemas. All diagram data saved to our cloud servers is encrypted using AES-256-GCM encryption at the server level. This ensures that your data is stored securely and is only accessible through our platform's authenticated sessions. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track activity on our service and hold certain information. Cookies are used primarily to maintain your session (keeping you logged in) and to remember your local preferences (such as dark/light mode themes). You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies, but if you do not accept cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of our Service (like saving to the cloud).

We also use analytics cookies to understand how visitors interact with DesignSQL and to improve the overall experience. Specifically, we use Microsoft Clarity, a behavioral analytics tool that collects anonymized usage data such as heatmaps, session recordings, and click patterns.

Analytics cookies are only loaded after you explicitly give your consent via the cookie consent banner displayed on your first visit. If you decline, no analytics script is loaded or executed. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser's local storage for this site.

Analytics data collected through Microsoft Clarity is used solely to improve our product. No personal data is sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes.

5. Third-Party Services

We may employ third-party companies and individuals to facilitate our Service:

  • Authentication Providers: We use Google OAuth to handle secure logins. When you log in with Google, you authorize them to share your name, email, and profile picture with us.
  • Payment Processors: We use Lemon Squeezy to process subscription payments securely.
  • Analytics: With your consent, we use Microsoft Clarity (by Microsoft Corporation) to collect anonymized behavioral data such as session recordings, heatmaps, and interaction patterns.
